About Us
Ages
ago when man first made fire, he had to find a way to extinguish
it, too. So was born the firefighter and the proud brotherhood of
men and women known not only for their bravery, but for their love
of good food. And it was in the firehouses of Louisville, Kentucky
that the spark for FireFresh BBQ was first kindled.
Bruce Loeffler, founder of FireFresh BBQ, grew up hearing stories
of his great grandfather’s 33 years as a captain in the LFD.
Through his father’s photography and newspaper editorials,
Bruce learned more of the selfless contributions of those who serve
their community by fighting fires. Bruce also spent countless hours
watching his grandfather cook chili and barbecue at the firehouse
– and this is where he discovered his true calling. After
briefly considering following in the footsteps of his great grandfather,
he decided he’d be better facing the fires of the barbecue
grill and devoted himself to cooking.

After a lot of experimentation, Bruce developed
a sauce like no other in the barbecue business at the time
– sweet ... but with a kick. It was a huge hit with
friends and family. It was also the beginning of FireFresh
BBQ as we know it today! After years of perfecting his barbecue
recipe at family get-togethers, neighborhood yard sales, and
even a tent outside a local hardware store, Bruce enlisted
the help of friends and relatives and opened his first restaurant
in 2001.
Today, with several locations around the area and many more
to come, FireFresh is serving up fresh and delicious, fire-grilled
barbecue to everyday American heroes all across the Louisville
area. And along with each order comes a hearty sampling of
Bruce’s proud firefighting heritage.
